The Devil Isn’t In The Roc

Forgive me, but I’m always baffled by people who buy into these random conspiracy theories. Over the past month or so the day jobs have forced me to focus on the Illuminati, the Devil, and Ursula the Sea Witch in light of growing speculation that Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Beyonce are all a part of some Satantic cult that’s given them the keys to super-stardom.

And it seems all one has to do is watch a video like this and suddenly you start embracing the nonsensical paranoid person within. I looked at this video – well, listened to it (I multi-task) – and my only reaction was, “Someone spent 8 minutes putting this video together?!”

Then I asked myself, “Am I really going to spend 8 whole minutes watching this?”

No. I turned it off. My Firefox crashed soon after. Don’t fret, though. Trust me that browser crashes harder than most addicts.

This video made me think of my friend who told me about a girl who swears that Beyonce and Jay-Z are Satanists. Her proof? Someone wrote it in an email.

I could write Bow Wow got Omarion’s left butt cheek pregnant from a Yahoo account named “I lie like Kracee” and I guarantee some fool would start forwarding it to everyone in their address book like it’s the gospel.

Which points to some inconvenient truths: A lot of people are gullible and even more of them are stupid. It’s impolite to point out, but no less true.

There are people living in Oak Tree and Landfill, South Carolina who will swear on the lives of their child that Obama is a Muslim because somebody who drank too much Boone’s Farm said so while they were pumping gas during the campaign. And there are some out there who will try to convince you that they see 2 Pac every Sunday at the Magic Johnson theater off Crenshaw. You know, because even when you’re faking your own death you can’t turn down their matinee prices.

As for this video I saw someone write that this theory must be true because how else could Rihanna get a deal? Shade aside, if Rihanna sold her soul to Satan she got ripped off. See reports of first week sales of Rated R and last week’s round of performances of “Russian Roulette.”

I looked over the site The Industry Exposed, which pieced together this video. I noticed that they’re asking for Paypal donations from readers. Shocker. It pays to play on people’s fears.

If you do so happen to believe that Jay-Z slobbed Satan’s snob for superstar status, riddle me this: If it’s such a big secret and the group is so powerful why are people allowed to write about it? The devil doesn’t have a confidentiality clause? And shouldn’t the devil be trying to link up with more powerful people like Miley Cyrus?

I could go on but the more I type about this the more I feel like my brain might run from my head. In all seriousness, though, please tell me none of you all actually believe this stuff?

  • Lord Chile,
You don’t know how many exhaustive arguments Ive had with youtube endoctrinated morons over this here bullshyt!
This one chick tried to tell me that Hellen Keller was a satanic occultist-who made up the “I luv u” sign , the ones that Rock N ROllers throw up-that is apparently an ode to DUH DEBIL.
Disregarding the documented historical proof that Hellen Keller didn’t even use sign language.
Apparently Bob Fosse is also apart of this evil well publicized “secret society”, as well as anyother celebrity that wears black, successful, and assiciates wuth Jay-Z.

The internet is a dangerous tool, it allows idiots to network with other idiots. Unfortunately if gives EVERYBODY a voice.

But if you look back at human history-the majority of people are not that hard to influence. Even if you are spewing baseless propoganda-Nazi Germany anyone?

  • People have way too much fucking time on their hands

  • I’m finally glad that a blogger has stepped up to the plate and started to call out this satanic bullshit. And its truly sad that people are really that gullible to take ambiguous lyrics and music videos and make them out to be a “Call to arms” for some pseudo-secret organization hell-bent on taking over the world. Hell, you can take a youtube vid of a 5 year old dancing to Yo Gabba Gabba song and see symbols… if that’s what you are looking for. Simply put, people are dumb, delusional, and take artistic liberty to heart. Looking for shit that isn’t there and doesn’t exist.

  • omg thankyou for posting this i think more people need to see this, i agree its all fuckery its a shame ignorant people believe stuff just because its on YOUTUBE so they think its truth im like its just been put together by any normal person who has to much time on there hands doesnt make it truth but people seem to believe stuff just because it has ‘false facts’ and pictures and put together in a video! its stupid people actually believe it, if it was so secret they wouldnt know anything to be making videos about it but i guess people always seem to find it easier to believe a lie then truth !! & im MAD they tryna say it about Beyonce are they mad!!! damn haters!

  • why is it only the die-hard Christians who are always playing records backwards? I have met plenty of secular and downright hedonistic people in my life, and none of them ever felt the urge to play a record backwards and look for “secret messages”.

  • (Claps Hands)……I soooo agree with you. I’m tired of reading silly comments about certain celebs being devil worshippers. Its so funny cuz accusers only pick and chose certain artist to accuse as it fits them. I had to argue some chick down about the peace sign being evil. I’m like “so you mean i worship the damn devil just cuz i chunkin da duece on my facebook photo?!” getdafuckouttahere! Some ppl are to damn so-called righteous for their own good. I wish more blogs would say something about this cuz it’s soooo irritating. I could go on and on but I can’t cuz my boss is lookin at me funny. *logs off*

  • I am so tired about people telling me such and such are devil worshipers. When someone tried to tell me Omarion was a part of it I was like he didn’t get very much out of the deal. People will believe anything because it’s on a video. Imagine what that person could do with their free time if they stopped with these pointless videos. SMDH

  • I love reading those things when I need a laugh. The convoluted nonsense kills me.

  • Please don’t start with Miley Cyrus and the Illuminati  ! They’ll start thinking the kids from the Twilight New Moon is part of a cult.

People will do just about anything for hits on YouTube. (I have a youtube account, but I only convey my art, not crazed rants) They sit up there and start some sh*t simply because of a line in a song. People, rather than taking something and researching more on the topic on their own, take it for the gospel truth and roll with it. They are some of the most ridiculous things I’ve have every seen. “Only believe half of what you see” couldn’t be more truer than in this case.

Granted, there is always some kind of cult or special “group” that comes along with each generation, there is always some shady deception and cruel intentions going in all industries (music, polotics, religion) but I believe if most of it really were true, don’t you think Jay-Z would have shut the blogs, mags, and reporters down from those rumors? Afterall, if you want a good cult to keep going strong, it wouldn’t be put on blast so PUBLICLY the way this f*ckery is every week.

I think people confuse the shadiness that is rumored behind Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Rihanna with being a cult because it appears that they are “running” this music industry because they are everywhere, when in reality they are just flavor of the month artists and everyone is talking about them. Even Lady GaGa has been magnified by the Vigilant Citizen dubbing her the “Illuminati” puppet, speculating on whether she is or is not (read: is) part of this esteemed cult.

Besides, we know black people can’t run sh*t right (If they can it won’t be for long).

  • Nah, people, and that includes us your audience just on different topic matters, tend to be predisposed to believe without proof things that back up their belief system. So if you believe that the devil is an actual force actively working in reality to undercut God’s works…well, your ears will perk up if someone says that they have spotted HIs minions.
What’s particularly difficult about trying to debate conspiracy/devil possession theories is that they are nearly by definition not definitively provable, instead they are based upon insinuations, vague statements, etc.
Faith can be manifested in many different ways – for positivity or negativity.

  • On another note.
Why are these people listening to these artists in the first place?
Even without Satan thrown into the mix weren’t their message of avarice, way, way overt sexuality, violence, etc not exactly messages that many believers are suppose to condone anyway?

  • You will never believe this – but GASP – my firefox crashed too when I decided not to watch the video!!!!!!!!! That must mean “something,” right?! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think it is sad that the idea is so far-fetched to you. There’s something decidedly ungodly and blasphemous about Jay-Z and his lyrics. I never heard him mention God or Jesus name (in thankfulness) except for the lyric about “life begins after church and Jesus can’t save you.” Being a devil worshiper has never been an unpopular thing in the entertainment industry, just look at all the old heavy metal rock bands. Regardless of what was on the youtube vid there are somethings in life you just can hide. If you love God its shows and if you don’t…eventually it will show as well…later for youtube and Jay-Z. I would advise you all to cut out distractions and READ your Bible and learn about our Savior and what time we as humans are in.

  • Please know that I love your point of view…on everything. No more word are needed on my end.

  • Oh Mike….THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU….Come on people! Get a life.

  • Finally! Thank you, Mike…this foolishness needs to cease.

  • @Drea
So in what way has Jay-Z, Beyonce, etc proven that they are living godless, satan worshipping lives?
Are you judging them for their life’s works or from someone else interpreting their lyrics as evil?

  • I agree 100% with Drea.

People always want to turn the other cheek when they hear something that just ‘can’t be right’. WAKE UP! There are crazy ass people in the world! Don’t you watch the news??? And, because this man has money he isn’t absolutely nutz?

Let’s deal on facts alone: this man has this shit on his shirt… says he possessed by spirits… uses blasphemy in his song… started Rockafella Record where he throws up a pyramid… I mean HELLLO, IS ANYBODY IN THERE? AND, Rhianna is a total whack job. I saw a picture of her with what looked like a crucifix around her neck. It was black with like hundreds of little AND big crosses around her neck. AND, Beyonce does not seem like awoman of substance. She exudes fakeness to me… I believe it SOMEBODY belongs to illuminati and he sure seems like a Real follower.

  • Wow, so since when did it become law that you had to insert Jesus into every song to not be a devil worshipper? Jay Z has never seemed to be particularly religious to me, musicians have a right to keep their beliefs private like anyone.

  • @KJEN Please don’t mistake my comment as a judgement. I’m simply giving my opinion based entirely off Jay-Z’s public persona and lyrics (BTW I never mentioned Beyonce or their lifestyles) Basically I’m trying to say instead of painting every believer of God as a zealot or saying “there’s no way that could be true” use the knowledege (Bible) we all have available and investigate for yourself. I don’t know the man (Jay-Z) but my grandma always said “if it walks like a duck quacks like a duck looks like a duck it must be a duck”.

  • I refuse any & all bullshit today; therefore, I won’t bother watching the video or reading the comments of the numbskulls who comment under it/believe this shit.

    (shameless plug – follow me on a jour-ur-neeey…… @theporscheofoz)

  • @DREA Your comment means nothing simply because you said “There’s something decidedly ungodly and blasphemous about Jay-Z and his lyrics. I never heard him mention God or Jesus name (in thankfulness) except for the lyric about “life begins after church and Jesus can’t save you.”

If that’s the only time you’ve ever heard him mention Jesus, God, or anything spiritual, you don’t know enough about his lyrics to comment…

  • I stopped watching when they used the word “there” and it should have been “their.”
